Buying Those First Golf Clubs

When golfers first go to their local sports store to purchase golf clubs they arent exactly sure what to buy. There are so many different golf clubs to choose from. Golf clubs can be expensive, cheap, popular, and those the pros use. Thats what I hope this article will do - to help guide you in the right direction for buying your first set of golf clubs.

The first thing you should do is get your evaluated by a professional. This way you can buy the clubs appropriate to you. The makers of golf clubs have a goal in life: to make golf clubs that maximize the physics of a golfers swing whilst allowing for a range of swing error yet provide an accurate, forgiving shot. The better the swing, of course, the less forgiving club you require.

So. Golf rules (depending on country) state that a total of fourteen golf clubs in your bag, including a putter.Lets get the others!.

Woods
There are three woods that golfers need: the 1-driver, 3 and 5. The wood is a hollow-bodied large headed club. These golf clubs are used when you are 175 yards or more away from the green, specifically from the tee.

Irons
A standard set of iron golf clubs are: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Irons are typically used when you are 200 yards or less from the green. The closer to the green, the higher number iron you will use.

Wedges
A specialty iron. Popular wedges in golfers clubs are the pitching wedge, sand wedge, approach wedge, lob wedge and high lob wedge. These clubs are extremely useful to a golfers game. They give you more options in your approach shots.

Putters
You have probably already used one if you ever play pitch and putt, or crazy golf. It is used on the green only and there are a wide variety of putters.

Now, you dont have to have a completely full set to start golfing. In fact, my research has shown that that new golfers can start out with a short set. This gives you confidence to choose the best club for each shot. It is recommended to have a 3-wood, 3-iron, 5-iron, 7-iron, 9-iron and a putter. You can always buy more clubs when you start to get better, learn your yardage and work on the physics of clubs. You can also buy a short set and later or trade it in for a full set, that fits your golf swing!.

SUMMARY: As a new golfer you can be unsure on the golf clubs you actually need. But now, you have a basic idea!
