Guide to golfing for seniors

Are you over 50? Have you stopped playing golf because you fear injury? Don't worry! All you may need to is adjust your technique. This is to ensure that you will not develop golfers wrist or hamate bone.

What is golfers wrist?

Golfers wrist is an injury where you feel tenderness and pain. This injury may need surgery and takes time to heal. To help senior golfers, Johnny Miller has revised his teaching for the seniors. Following his instructions will help you continue enjoying your golf and avoid injury.

Swinging for seniors!

Usually, you start from the backswing, hit the golf ball on the downswing and make a follow-through. One minor revision that Johnny Miller teaches is to cock the hands on the backswing and keep the right elbow close to the hip.

Still the swing needs power, but seniors are advised to be more strategic rather than exert greater power. If you usually reach 300 yards when you are younger, the distance will be shorter the older you get. You only need to make sure that the direction is still stright and true!

Stretching is necessary

If you are a Senior and you still want to enjoy golfing and other fun activities, do regular stretching exercises.

To continue improving your game, you may need a mentor that knows golf and should be a senior as well. Why? So your mentor or coach understands the risks and will teach you techniques that will not lead to problems later on.

Golfers wrist is painful and even if it is detected early, it may need months to heal and surgery is inevitable.

Thus, to make sure you do not get hamate bone or golfers wrist, check your grip of the golf club. If you need to change your golf clubs for a more comfortable set, then do it.

Finally, walking is another form of exercise; so avoid using the golf cart.

As a senior citizen, you need to look after your health. A round of golf is good ask your doctor. He will give you advice. If golfing is allowed, then, do it and enjoy playing.
